The story of Tawakal Hospital's growth and development over the years

2010

Establishment of Tawakal Hospital with basic medical services in Fuoni Kiembeni, Zanzibar.

2012

Expansion of services to include specialized departments like Pediatrics, Gynecology, and General Surgery.

2015

Introduction of modern diagnostic equipment and laboratory services for comprehensive healthcare.

2017

Development of specialized maternity wing with advanced facilities for maternal and child health.

2018

Official opening on June 4, 2018 as a Private Zonal Medical Facility owned by the Afuwan Company Limited, operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar.

2019

Rapid growth in patient numbers - within one year of opening, outpatients grew from 550 to 2,849 and inpatients from 5 to 308 per month. Launch of community outreach programs and free medical camps.

2021

Recognition as the Best Hospital in Zanzibar for quality healthcare services and patient satisfaction. Expansion to 55 inpatient beds spanning a wide range of medical and surgical specialties with 107 staff.
