Owned by Afuwan Company Limited and operating under the guidance of the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar, Tawakal Hospital combines modern medical equipment with a team of experienced, compassionate professionals.

2010
The beginning
Tawakal Hospital is established with basic medical services in Fuoni Kiembeni, Zanzibar.
2012
New specialties
Services expand to include Pediatrics, Gynecology and General Surgery departments.
2015
Diagnostics
Modern diagnostic equipment and laboratory services are introduced for comprehensive care.
2017
Maternity wing
A specialised maternity wing opens with advanced facilities for maternal and child health.
2018
Official opening
On 4 June 2018 Tawakal opens as a Private Zonal Medical Facility owned by Afuwan Company Limited, under the guidance of the Ministry of Health of Zanzibar.
2019
Rapid growth
Within a year, monthly outpatients grow from 550 to 2,849 and inpatients from 5 to 308. Community outreach and free medical camps begin.
2021
Recognition
Recognised as the best hospital in Zanzibar for quality and patient satisfaction, with 55 inpatient beds across medical and surgical specialties and 107 staff.
